Or the story of what happens when a draft is unintentionally published instead of being updated.
Because it is so funny.
You’re probably wondering what kind of title “Badges Gallery” is for a post. Truth is, I was generating code for a couple of badges I wanted to add to the widget titled “In Good Company” in the sidebar and under my posts. The easiest way to do this is use the post editor. This is an ongoing draft where I do the rough work. However, yesterday I was absent-minded enough to hit publish instead of update draft.
So this morning, I checked email as usual and opened the one from Bloglovin’ to see the latest from the blogs I follow. Imagine my shocked surprise at seeing a post from me titled Badges Gallery. I almost died from embarrassment (followed by totally amused laughter from those present at home).
First thing I did was revert the post to draft.
Then came the realization that the post has already been shared by my kind community. Ugh. What to do now? I can’t let them see a “page not found” error page.
So here I am. Confessing. And clearing up the mess.
Not that I have anything against badge galleries. In fact, I love them. I think they’re such a neat visual way to show who we are associated with and are far more fun to look at than a bunch of text, eh?
Also, I can’t deny I am pleased to have managed to have successfully created this badge gallery through trial and error – and learned lots in the process. I wanted to find a way to make a grid where each image could be linked to its source. There seemed no way to do this until I found a neat plugin that worked. And now, as it grows, all I need to do is edit the gallery and paste the code in the text widget. Cool eh?
I am thrilled to keep such good company. To highlight some:
NetGalley – My source for advance review copies of fantastic books. I’ve been auto-approved by some publishers – so wonderful!
Sheknows Experts – I am writing for this wonderful site – and plan to do it more regularly
I’ll be writing for more blogs/websites this year and update the widget in the sidebar titled “In Good Company” as we go.
Love and best wishes for 2016,
