Infidelity

Today I read an article in a newsletter I subscribe to, titled:

Confessions of a cheating wife: Why would ANY woman risk the happiness of her family, and betray the husband she still loves, by having an affair?

The woman describes her revival of her affair with an old flame. It is quite distressing to read – and quite a few people have commented on it. While some people share their own experiences, some are quite acidic in their reaction to this story.

It is awfully sad the way relationships go wrong. But is it fair to make the children from the relationship suffer? Or even the spouse who has no idea of what is going on? Worse still, still believes that everything is fine? Certainly not. One doesn’t have to be labeled moralistic to think that it is wrong to betray the ones we love.

Yet, this sort of situation goes on in so many peoples’ lives. I know of people who have had almost life long affairs (still do) and manage to be totally discreet about it. They succeed in keep their wife/husband as well as their boyfriend/girlfriend quite happy through this two-timing. I even know someone whose girlfriend and wife both happen to be good friends and don’t mind sharing the guy.

So what do you think of this story? Should she dump the boyfriend, or the husband? What about the kid?
Do comment. I know it’s not nice to be judgmental, but I can’t help asking.
