Sufi Sounds That Soothe

This is such a lovely song. I first heard it on the Saregamapa Challenge 2009 show during the Sufi Music episode when Soumen Nandi sang it. Great performance it was. Somehow the song has stuck in my head – moving lyrics, moving sounds. I found the video of a live performance from the original singer, the cute, pint sized Kailash Kher with the powerful voice…but it didn’t quite match up to the original song.

I was rather disappointed with the original video ! Never imagined it to have anything to do with romance when I first heard the song…and I really didn’t want to lose that mood, escapist that I am! 🙂 It is a melodious song with really nice lyrics – even our very own Vidur Sury sings it quite cutely. In fact, he perfectly imitates participants who sang it in various programs.

Well…here is the MTV unplugged version. Enjoy!

Saiyyan – Kailash Kher

Enjoy …and don’t forget to turn up those speakers….

Cheers!

Though i heard it first on radio..before seeing it in TV…it had the same magical effect…
I was lost in the song…opened a myriad of emotions within…so much that I couldn’t react…
n once when one classical dance on some tv program represented the song the way she interpreted it..then it looked as if the song was mde for her

Your heartbeat becomes arrhythmic…when someone is missing from the picture…
Are the MTv version and the youtube one… the same…video was incongruous to the emotion of the lyrics….
