Calm After The Storm

I am happy to say that I’ve managed to successfully wrap my week up, and am looking forward to a “normal” week ahead. Busy, but not so hectic that I can’t play hooky and have a good time with Vidur. I am grateful to all those who wished me well and hoped my days would get lighter soon! Thanks! I also wouldn’t have been able to get through the last couple of weeks without the support of my folks.

We’ve planned some good times ahead and kicked it off today by ordering lunch from outside, something we very rarely do on a Sunday. In fact, the only thing we order in is pizza occasionally. Because I love to cook. But today, we decided to try a new place on a neighbor’s recommendation and loved it. The food arrived, beautifully packed and HOT.

I also enjoyed a long bath this morning and am loving the fragrance of my shampoo which is like a halo around my head. Now, if only I could find the guts to cut my hair short!  Sigh.

Let us get on with our photo journey, already! All are from my mobile phone camera.

See this sunset? It was largely responsible for keeping me sane during the last few days. Don’t laugh at this, but I’d get the feeling that the Universe was trying to talk to me, soothing me. See the sun’s rays? That’s the powerful inner voice, amplifying the message for all those who wish to hear.

Yes, I am loving the sun playing hide and seek with the clouds which cannot decide whether they should rain. All I know is that my terrace was beautiful to stand in, walk around and feel the beauty. And such gorgeous colors!

And finally, there was a light drizzle. The sun won. And decided to treat us with another gorgeous sunset we would remember and take home with us.

Along with the work overload, I also managed to make it to the dentist last week, accompanying Sury who had a toothache. And these photos are from the dentist’s clinic’s yard in front, where we waited because it was cooler there than waiting in the lobby where it was warm. I love the variety spilling over in this patch!

Here’s a pot of basil – we call this “tulsi” – this plant, besides medicinal qualities, has religious significance and it is worshiped by Hindus.

This is part of a lonely plant perched in a pot on the wall at the clinic. I love the fresh shade of green. My first ever saree was this shade and made of chiffon.

I love this plant. The leaves are quite massive and look succulent. I wonder if it is a flowering plant. I’ll know, eventually as I’ll keep a watch each time I visit the dentist. This plant looks much nicer when it rains.

And this, dear friends, is my companion at home. Ms.Pigeon is curious, wondering what I am up to. The window is near the table where I sit to work. I hope she approves of how well we’ve cleaned the verandah so that she can go poop all over it. Bad girl!

Hmm. I have lovely memories of this set of curtains. My Mom and I were so excited to find three sets at our usual linen store and they fit our windows and doors in two rooms perfectly.

I am ready for the week ahead, friends. Are you?

Let’s head over to Unknown Mami’s now and pick up our itinerary to travel the world together – right from the comfort of our keyboards.

Have a wonderful week ahead!

hi BLOGitse – one of the happy things about our dentist is their cute and unruly garden that distracts me. Still oscillating over the short hair. Maybe I’ll just chop a few inches off. 😀 You have a wonderful week too! Thank you for visiting!

Ugh – I know. Especially when they wait for you to finish cleaning and then come sit there and shit. Eeks. Our verandah is large and they sit all over it. Rascals. At least I am talking about outside the house. I can imagine what it is like for you inside. Yikes. Hugs to you!

First, we’ve had some WILD storms here over the past few days too, and I’m very thankful for the CALM that has followed them today.

I’m talking literal thunder storms, though life is full of the figurative storm too sometimes.

I’m not laughing at your for thinking the sky is talking – – – we are told that “The Heaven’s DECLARE the glory of God.” So, they do talk, oh yes they do!

Vidya Sury May 30, 2012 at 5:54 am

Dear Keetha, What lovely words about the sky. As kids, we used to love watching the clouds and imagining all sorts of wonderful things. We don’t experience many thunderstorms here – maybe the rare once or twice a year, thank God. The devastation they leave behind takes months to clear up.

Thank you for the wonderful comment – always love having you here!

Rahul – after the three or four days of rain, that too, thanks to the weather elsewhere, we’ve returned to extremely warm weather. I think the temp is down after yesterday, though. Thank you for stopping by!

I love the photos of the sky…when we lived on the boat, I would look through the upper hatch and marvel at how the slightest change in the sky could alter the entire reflection (and yes, sky reflects to me in ways my heart can hear!).

Your energy feels lovely through your photos and words…and here I am with an opportunity to take a bath (a treat since we do not have a tub), yet I am online..an example of how I sometimes deflect the very thing I have asked for. So, thank you..I shall unplug and partake…

And, having just cut my hair, I can say, removing the layers has ushered in some lovely, long dormant spunk…

Love to you, dear friend!

The sky is such a dream/fantasy land that is ever changing – especially with our currently summery weather. I know you would understand this, Joy. When I took the photos, I was thinking of you and also how much more beautifully you would have expressed yourself 🙂

You’re looking just gorgeous with your new look! Love you, too, dear Joy!
