People Watching

There’s something so nice about people watching. I love it particularly. I wonder what they’re thinking.  What kind of background they come from? What moves them? Are they happy? And so on go the questions in my head. I am rather popular for striking up a conversation very easily with strangers (yes, I do know better 🙂 And my Momma did warn me when I was little). Apparently I am rather easy to talk to, too and I am told there’s something about me that makes them want to tell me what’s bothering them. Be that as that may – here are some of the folks I chatted up this week – rather a diverse lot. Ready to talk. As was I. Enjoyable.  Share it with me! (Click any photo to see original size)

I met this guy at the medical store today. I was fascinated with his hair and his face and his Tshirt. At first I thought he could not speak, as he used signs. Later it turned out he couldn’t stop talking.

See his tshirt. Built in backpack printed on it. Cool eh?
Pretty face, no?
There’s a music program going on – and she’s busy with her own little activity. She sings very well.
But right now, she is deep in thought.
These kids – quite happy playing in the sand outside the temple. Look at what’s in the center. They’re trying to keep the lamp burning. They’ve created their own little temple!
I met these ladies happily watching the tourists come and go while minding their little shop at the temple in Sikkim. So ready to talk. I love that.
And here are the people I love watching the most! This photo is from August 2006. This little boy is a big boy now!
That’s it for this week!
Now let’s go join Unknown Mami – so we can travel the world together!

Oh, just one more thing.
My friend Hiten Vyas ‘s ebook “Job Interview Confidence”  is free to download on Saturday 1st September and Sunday 2nd September 2012 on Amazon. The eBook can help anyone who is going through Job Interviews to reduce anxiety and increase confidence. Even if you are currently not going through job interviews, it is a great resource to have in your collection for when you do! You can download it here: Job Interview Confidence
Have a great week!

People watching…one of my very favorite pastimes. I like to go to the local coffee shop, take my laptop, and order a decadent flavored coffee…and then write while I people watch. Haven’t done that in awhile. This reminds me I need to! Thanks for sharing, Vidya. LOVE the pictures, especially that last one. XOXOs

Hi Vidya,

Lovely and intriguing photos as usual! I really liked the photo of the kids outside the temple.

Just like you, I’m also into people watching. It’s amazing to wonder what is going on in the minds of people, and what they are thinking at any moment. I love doing this the most when I’m travelling, and can watch the locals going about their daily lives. And they can look back at this stranger watching them!

Thank you so much for mentioning my ebook at the end of your post. It’s very kind of you and I really appreciate it! 🙂

I love people watching and eavesdropping too. It’s not that I’m trying to be nosy, I’m just fascinated by people. And maybe I am a tiny bit nosy.

nothing wrong with being friendly, mami…I too have that ‘gift of gab’, and, sometimes to my dismay, people confide in me…I love the way you photographed each interesting individual and told a bit……People-watching should be an Olympic sport!

Great photos and thoughts about watching people and engaging with them. I was totally fooled by the T-shirt with the backpack design!

People watching is not just a great source of blog fodder but fun. So is the “little boy” now taller than you?

People watching is so fascinating! And real people are so much more interesting than the airbrushed images you find in magazines 🙂

Love the subject, just over the weekend, we spent an hour at waiting for the ferry to arrive in NYC and what do you think we did???Exactly, watched all kinds of people from all over the world, wondering where they were headed to in such a hurry and what in the world were they actually going through. It is really fascinating to think and watch people without a care in the world.
