Sunday In My City – Another City

New Delhi, the capital of India, which I visited last December (2010). What a trip it was! The highlight was visiting The Taj Mahal, one of the wonders of the world. Here are just a few pictures from that trip. Tough choice, because I only have about four hundred or so from that trip. Sigh. The sheer scale of these monuments is breath-taking.

(Click the pictures for an over-inflated size 🙂 and if you wish, click the linked captions for more info about these places)

The Red Fort, Delhi. Sadly, couldn’t go in as it was closed on Mondays. Some bad planning on my part

The Rashtrapathi Bhavan, Delhi. The President’s residence.
She gets a direct view of the India Gate below. Not allowed inside for obvious security reasons
The India Gate, Delhi. War Memorial. Looks fabulous lit up by night.

The Jama Masjid, Delhi. Beautiful Mosque
The Jama Masjid – courtyard. See the pigeons. Delight to watch

Pigeons swarm in, grab the grains and fly off to return in a few minutes

One of my favorite pictures. Jama Masjid

Rickshawala in Karol Bagh, Delhi. I took a ride in it

The Taj Mahal in Agra. Isn’t she beautiful? She took my breath away

With the Taj Mahal. Oh yeah, proud to be an Indian.

Thanks to the delightful Unknown Mami. She hosts Sundays In My City. She is my ticket to world travel. Without moving an inch, through my keyboard.
Let’s head over to hers, and from there, other exotic places!
Thank you for subscribing to my blog! Do consider leaving a comment – or just reply to this email! I’d love to know what you think.

Cheers!

Breathtaking photos! Especially the Taj Mahal. I remember a show on TV when I was just 13, about two boys (one American, one Indian) who lived in India. I remember seeing the Taj Mahal on that show and wishing I could go there. One has many dreams as a child! Now maybe I can live one of them through you, my friend! You are proud and you should be!
(oh and how lovely you look in the pics, too!)
