I have been net-setting

After that post about planning for September and all that, I decided to kick it off with a fake vacation. My target is three days, but I know it could very well turn into 5-6 days. Sure, I’ll handle work that comes in, but the absence of that pressure is something else. 🙂 Delightful.

And before I knew it, (I know – I broke a grammar rule – I started the paragraph and sentence with an “And” Grrr) it is day three already. I also realized, spending time off the internet except to check email and browse blogs, I hadn’t posted here after Sunday in my city.  And wow, after that post I’ve been visiting the blogs of all those who commented and truly enjoying myself. Here are just some of the blogs I visited:

Goodies for a pleasant life – Tina’s picstory – I walked into a gorgeous garden.

Mim’s Muddle – Lots of variety here, and as Mim says, “from Feminism and Fat Acceptance to amusing things my kids say and tales of where we went on the weekend”. Wonderful blog

Zen-sational Living Blog – Sheila’s blog is a must-read for the soul. And if you also want eye-candy, check out her Zen gallery.  Please also visit her Love Rally

Thin Spiral Notebook – Tara’s straight from the heart words are so touching.

With love from Lohr – May’s blog is a visual treat.

The Zen of Motherhood – “Life between nicktoons and nirvana” is how Mama Zen describes her blog. A fun parenting blog

Ceo a’s draiocht – Enchanting blog. I almost got lost in there – I had no idea of the time slipping by.

Carmen’s Chronicles – bright, cheerful, colorful. Carmen has a fabulous blog.

A star in my own universe – Traci’s blog is  lovely.

Unknown Mami – One of the coolest blogs I’ve seen till date. And gosh, I’ve seen lots and lots. And I have her to thank since I discovered all the blogs I listed above via her Sundays in my City post, which I linked to, on impulse.

In the meantime, I also tweaked the layout here a bit (I know it is hard to actually spot the changes), but I added a “connect with me” bunch of icons in the sidebar here so we can connect on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google Plus- looks so much jazzier and occupies less “real estate” on this page, no? I also added an “email me” icon for those who’d like to send a one-on-one message. Thank you, Chacko for your supreme patience and the time you spent writing the code. 😀

Besides browsing blogs and getting to know some wonderful women online, I’ve also been enjoying:

  • chatting with my neighbors, listening to their woes
  • trying to get a maid, unsuccessfully. oh well, I made the effort. 😀
  • phoning my friends and enjoying the same closeness over the decades (oh yes, am a fossil!)
  • shopping
  • cleaning house, de-cluttering and freecycling
  • meeting people I haven’t seen in a while
  • calling family
  • focusing on good eating habits
  • listening to Vidur’s music practice (big day coming up)

I am enjoying my vacation, staycation.

Thank you for subscribing to my blog! Do consider leaving a comment – or just reply to this email! I’d love to know what you think.

Cheers!

Vidya

    —Vidya,

I’ll need to check out some of those blogs…I don’t have enough hrs in the day.

Ps. I love beginning my sentences with “And.”

    Hoping you are well.

I hear you, Kim. In fact, I thought it was a great way to take time off, visiting new blogs. Quite like going visiting, without the commute.

    🙂 I hope you’re well too. Always.

    Hi Vidya,
Your vacation sounds wonderful. I keep telling myself that I will take a digital vacation and I never do. I just cannot seem to turn off my computer. There are so many wonderful blogs I love reading – I could stay up all night!
I love the way the site looks. Very clean and calming.

Thanks for the comment, Angela. In fact, I realized that it is hard to stay away from the computer, which is why I thought I might as well work around that :-). I just made a list of all those seemingly simple things to do that never get done…:-) and got right down to them.

You know your blog is a big inspiration for me. Thanks, again.

I know what you mean about the fake vacation. When I was younger I didn’t realize how important time off is, but now I KNOW I need even fake vacations. What a wonderful list of things to do on your staycation. Thanks for following me Vidya, I look forward to reading more of your posts.

First of all, your kindness does not go unnoticed.

Also, I did notice you had made some changes to the layout. I couldn’t tell what it was until you pointed it out. I like the connect buttons being right at the top.

UM, I am a staunch believer of “if you love ’em, show ’em”. 🙂 Life is too short to be tight-assed.
