Today, I’d rather be in my happy place than at work. But I have miles to go before I sleep. Yes, friends, it has been a busy week, extending into a busy weekend with work deadlines to be met. I love it – yet with barely four hours of sleep each night over the last six days, I’ve been secretly wishing I could go to any one of the following places.
I am yearning to:
- Slow down a little
- Breathe a little
- Play a little
- Watch a movie with my son
- Catch up on my reading
- Try a couple of new recipes
- Go shopping
That’s just the tip of my to-do iceberg. And yes, I will get to it in the coming week, after my crazy-busy work schedule eases off on Tuesday (hopefully). Until then, let me fantasize. Please feel welcome to join me in my fantasy! Here, then, are some of . . .
My happy places – where I’d rather be right now!
This gorgeous scene is from our visit to the Golkonda Fort in Hyderabad. The blue sky, ancient monument, the lawns, the history, the sheer serenity of our surroundings took our breath away. After all the walking, it was lovely to stand and stare.
Another view of the Golkonda fort. Couldn’t get enough of this beautiful place I’ve visited so many times. When we lived in Hyderabad, it was customary to take all our guests on a sightseeing tour of the city, and it definitely included this iconic fort. We would carry picnic lunches and have a fabulous time.
The scene below is at the Mysore Zoo. The lake had ducks swimming around with their little ones. It was just so peaceful to look at the ripples in the water with the warm sunshine on our faces.
We also visited the Ranganthittu bird sanctuary near Mysore. A beautiful spot with interesting stone arrangements. The bird sanctuary, of course, was fantastic. We took a boat ride around the sanctuary and then spent time in nature.
This gorgeous statue is at the Mysore Zoo. Sitting comfortably in the middle of a large pond–isnt the goddess of wealth beautiful?
A great trip to Horsley Hills took us back to nature as we wandered around, admiring the greenery, birdsong and the prehistoric trees there.
Have a wonderful week ahead, folks!
Remember
You’re never fully dressed without a smile –
but having a great outfit can make your day, too.

Hugs! Terri. Best part is – they’re all easily accessible places! Thanks for your lovely wishes! And all the best to you with your interviews and assignments! Looking forward to your success 😀
I always look so forward to my Sundays in India! My school ended last Thursday and I am doing all those things you are going to do! We saw a movie yesterday, I’m gardening today and I began working on my next book yesterday morning!! So exciting!! By the way, where is this incredible happy place???
These places span three cities, Betsy. I’ve lived in all of them, so they’re all my cities 😀 The last photo is very precious to me. When you visit me, I’ll take you to all of them. I am glad you’re enjoying a break, because I know how hard you’ve been working! I am going to join you in the revelry soon! 😀
Is there some way to make work a happy place? But I know it’s not the same. I went up to my cabin this weekend and just sat and read a whole book! Ahhh, now that was a happy place!
Galen, for me, work IS a happy place 😀 I could go to any of those places with my laptop and get on with what am doing :D. I’d love to see pictures of your cabin – you’ve mentioned it a number of times! 😀 Hugs. Cabin + a whole book = bliss!
Very pretty happy places. Hope your week goes well and you are able to get to have a good amount of you time.
Thank you, Nita! I will 🙂 I am glad you stopped by – have a wonderful week ahead!
Hi Vidya,
Beautiful happy places. I can see why you want to go there. Thanks for sharing. Have a peaceful day!
Hi Cathy! thank you! 🙂 I love those places for the memories they evoke! I wish you a great week ahead too!
What gorgeous, gorgeous shots. These happy places are just divine.
Thank you, Cindy! Loved your post too! Glad you came by!
Vidya, those are some gorgeous places to go for a bit of R&R, but if it was I who had spent all those hours at work with so little sleep, the place I’d like BEST to go would be to my own cozy little living room couch.
Keetha – my favorite place IS my living room – that’s where I put my feet up and work (thank you, laptop). But I thought posting a pic of my living room would not be as interesting as these pictures, which are lovely places too. Oh yes, I totally endorse my own living room couch. Thank you for coming by!
Love the wonderful pictures Vidya! You always do come up with such wonderful snaps and keep all of us enchanted, great hobby I must say! And yes such places are wonderful when we want a get-away after having worked so hard and meeting deadlines. :)Thanks for sharing. 🙂
The last photo is my favorite! That’s one powerful Goddess!
I hope that you do get to slow down my friend. I did and let me tell you…it sure helps to heal the mind.
Gorgeous pictures as always my friend. xoxo
I’d like to visit your happy places too! I hope it gets better soon and you get to cross some of those items off your list.
–Besides loving you, Vidya,
I love your shots of the Statues…..
WOW. It makes one want to pray to her God.
Xxxx Love
Oh, my! How will you choose from so many happy places?! They all look so inviting and peaceful!
It’s Tuesday and I hope things have slowed down for you.
Great peaceful places!!!
Hi Vidya! Those are beautiful happy places! I read about your peaceful activities which you crave and anticipate and realize that today I’ve had to slow down a bit (thanks to a sore arm from too much repetitive work – pushing too hard) and enjoy my visit with my kids. I’ll catch up later – that’s all there is to it!
You always inspire me.
