I saw this tree on the way to the “natural arch” or “sila thoranam” in Tirupati. I found her–has to be a she, right?–intriguing. Apparently she has been around for longer than anyone can remember.
I thought the tree was beautiful, strong and a survivor, just like a woman.
No matter what life throws at her, no matter what weather conditions she faces, she stands strong, grounded.
Here’s my haiku as a tribute to her.
Through life’s twists and turns
I will survive. Head held high
I am a woman

Love it Vidya! Trees are nature’s ultimate survivors, living for centuries. We saw a 2,000 year old tree last month in New Zealand. Looking at it, you can feel the history in civilization pass by observing each twist and turn in the tree. Thanks for sharing 🙂
That is so definitely a female tree. Why? Not sure, but there is no doubt in my mind.
LOVE your analogy. So perfect! So YOU! 🙂
You are so right Vidya. This tree is so human and the amount energy a huge trunk exudes is just incredible. Your words makes the tree alive and how!
Wow! If she could speak, what stories she could have told us!
I loved your words more, Vidya! And, the haiku. PERFECT!!
Hi Vidya,
Found you blog in the A2Z Challenge.
Read a few posts. Quite interesting.
This one on trees particularly.
Trees are what sustain our life on earth, is it not?
Look forward to your future posts.
Take care,
Pradeep
