Dreams, goals, and desires are what keep us going. It can be a minor thing (a cup of coffee almost always does it for me like a shot of adrenaline). Or it can be a big one - buying a house, changing a job.
And yet, no matter how much we want something, we experience inertia when it comes to taking action.
Why?
It’s not because we’re lazy or undisciplined.
Is it because we lack the motivation for taking action?
Not really.
That instinctive part of us - the one that sees the dream, immediately defines us as too small, too weak, and turns around quietly, giving up without even attempting. We want to avoid getting hurt. Thus, there are no scars to deal with. And of course, fear stops us from doing things with the sneaky “what if it doesn’t work?” Our ego is not hurt, and we feel safe.
But you know what? That same ego will ache later. Especially when you see someone else succeed. Your soul whispers, not for the first time, “I was meant to do that.” A sense of self-misery creeps in.
Only, you didn’t even try. In that moment, motivational quotes will not work because the truth is: trying is not a mindset trick. Trying needs capacity -the willingness to build yourself up into someone who can dream and take on big challenges. That’s when what felt impossible starts to feel doable.

Fear kills more dreams than failure ever will–Suzy Kassem
How do you go about taking action to build that version of you?
How do you convince yourself to take action on your desires? There is no cheat code for this. There is no magic mantra. What you can do right away, though, is start with those desires you can act on. Say yes to the challenges that stretch you but don’t break you. Allow each win to grow you a little more. Do it in a way that feels comfortable and enjoyable.
Slowly, you’ll find yourself becoming someone who doesn’t shy away from big dreams. You’ll become someone who isn’t afraid to try. You’ll keep growing.
So let’s try this simple exercise today
- Begin by making a list of everything you want, everything you dream of.
- Highlight the ones that excite you and feel doable.
- Begin with those.
- Invest your energy in tasks that will make you stronger, not smaller.
- Take the next step, and then another.
That’s how you grow with ease. Taking action.
You’ve got this!
