I can’t believe a week has whizzed by so quickly, but I did collect smiles even though I spent a lot of time offline and got on the internet only when I had something specific to do. I had internet fatigue. My email felt like an overload. So I practiced some tight time management around a “plan”. It almost worked. I was heard and not seen. Oh, wait, the saying is about being seen and not heard, right? Ugh.
Times have changed, and we have to adapt. And so I did. A very fruitful week, I’d say. If I continue at this rate, I might actually accomplish half the lofty things I’ve listed on my too-much-to-do list! Keeping my fingers crossed.
Earlier, I’d take breaks and during these, browse around. I am an information junkie. But the problem with this was I would get so carried away with something that soon, I’d find I’d cut into the time allocated for something else.
So, since I spent much less time online last week than usual, my breaks involved looking at old photos. I’d just shut it when my time was up. And it felt good because I knew it was going to be there whenever I came back to it.
As I took a short trip down memory lane, I collected a lot of smiles. Yes – nostalgia is like that. Like a big warm hug. I am lucky to have loads of photos with my friends, and recalling those moments is the best stress-reliever I can think of. And so, I came across these pictures, which fill my heart with smiles. Not the best quality photos, as my scanning is a bit half-assed. But I have the original film. Oh yeah, we did not have a digital camera in those days!

My best friend. Schoolmates. College mates.
Don’t go around with that guy mates.
I hate your boyfriend mates.
I love your boyfriend mates.
Forget work let’s play hooky mates.
Wonder how much a pitcher of beer costs at the new pub mates.
Let’s finish up our paperwork over a series of drought beer mugs mates.
Let’s just drive our Moms crazy mates.
I need something to wear and ravage each other’s wardrobe mates.
Mi casa es su casa mates.
Talk on the phone for three hours mates.
I look at the phone when I am sad and she calls mates.
I could really go on and on…..I love her. In 1993, when I told her I got a new job, she came right over. I was in Bangalore for a year then, and she was in Hyderabad. I moved back to Hyderabad in 1994.
I am also a wee bit guilty of acquiring a rather neat bracelet and a cute pair of owl earrings last week. I have a thing for owls. Oh, also got a bracelet made of thirty intertwined bangles. I do love junk jewelry.
See? It is in our hands to be happy! (even if it means buying bracelets!)
Now that I’ve shown you mine, join me on a virtual trip around the world. Tickets are free.
Have a happy Sunday, folks, followed by a fabulous week ahead!

I like your sassy jean skirt. It’s fun to look back. I was looking this week at old pictures of high school days. Wow. I had a thin waist in those days. Enjoy your day, Vidya.
Oh, Laurie, I still have it! Just that I no longer fit into it 😀 I am sure my friend also has some of my clothes 😀
Hi Vidya,
Looked like you and your friend were having a great time. Fun to look back through pictures.
Yes, Cathy. Wonderful times. 🙂 Thanks for coming by. Hugs!
Those were some great classic shots.
Thank you, Wayne. The best part is, I can look at the albums even without the computer.
wow! you look so beautiful and trendy in the pics and still do if you are wearing all those junk jewellery! I love them too, but only on others 😀
🙂 Thanks, Zephyr. You’re always kind. 😀
Ahhhhhhh, Vidya,

Old photos are great – they remind us from real moments we once had…sooo long ago! 🙂
Have a good week ahead!
ps. my hubby’s birthday party was a lot of laughs and good food and friends!
Yes, BLOGitse – so long ago. But I am glad they are all in my life, still and close as ever. 😀 Thank you for coming by! Glad y’all had a good party!
Loved the peek into your life once again! Love the pics!! I, too, have a little internet fatigue but it’s because I’m so busy ending the school year and trying to keep up with my Zen Mama book commitments. Trying to keep up and not feel stressed over all I need to do at the same time… calming my monkey mind!!
Thank you, Betsy. I know you have a busy schedule – do remember to take time off to recoup your energy! Being a school teacher is no easy task. Hugs! I am glad you are here.
Beautiful pictures…a great trip down memory lane 🙂
Hi Veeh! Welcome and thanks for visiting. Memory lane is one of my favorite locations! 😀 You have a lovely blog!
Nothing beats a best friend.
More people need to learn the secret that contentment is a choice.
You’re so right, Keetha. I think I am blessed. 🙂
Great shots of you and your friend, you both look like you’re having so much fun.
Thank you, Tara. Always feels great, you know.
Happy Sunday Vidya. Great pictures! You look so happy! I always feel better when I come over here and check out your Sundays. XOXOs
Hugs Terri! I have loads of these but only these were scanned and uploadable. Oh, I love to spend time with the albums! And I am always happy to see you here! Love you!
Collecting smiles – what a fantastic way to describe looking through old photos and cherishing the memories. It is great to see such genuine smiles and love in your photos.
🙂 It is just the same even today, after all these decades, except that we both look very different. Thanks for coming by, del king. You know, I was wondering what to write for the title when my son asked me what I was grinning at. 😀 And the title formed itself.
I love those earrings!! Very cute, my mother-in-law actually had something like that yesterday as well.
Hi Susi 😀 They ARE cute, aren’t they? I am glad you came by!
Lovely pics all but I especially love the pre-baby bath one. My kids loved their baths, too.
And yay for starting to reach for those lofty goals. I wish you continued success!
Happy Sunday!
🙂
Traci
And thank you, again!

😀 Thanks, Traci! My son was such a bundle of joy as a baby! (Still is, but a much larger bundle!) 😀 They are such delightful moments! Thank you for your kind words! Have a great week ahead!
What a great friendship! Those are the best! And I love the earrings, I have a thing for owls too. I don’t wear much jewelry so they are mostly all around my house 🙂
🙂 These owl earrings are very cute. They are far smaller than they look in the picture. Incidentally, I see the advt all over the web now! My friend loves these too! 😀 Thank you for coming by!
Hi Vidya,
Memories are prescious…hold onto them
be good to yourself
David
🙂

David
Welcome, David! You’re so right about memories – I have wonderful ones in my heart! Thank you for coming by!
A lovely peek into the happy past, Vidya:)
Thank you, Rahul! 😀 Those photos never fail to make me smile!
net fatigue does lead to fruitful finishing of the to-do’s; wish i could have more of’ewm. BTW loved the owl earrings !
Hi Priya! Thanks for visiting! 😀 Yes, going offline gets loads of things done!
I always feel so refreshed when I take a few days away from the computer up at my cabin. Loved your trip down memory lane. Have a wonderful and wonder-filled week.
Galen, I always fantasize about a cabin in the mountains. Just thinking about it makes me feel good all over! Thank you for visiting. Love!
You never fail to make me smile, and to remind us all that in the midst of our chaos, there is much (and enough time) to smile about!
🙂 It is true, Pamela. I’ve made it a habit. 😀 Of course, some people think I am nuts to smile most of the time, but I shouldn’t worry about that eh? Hugs to you.
I’ve dedicated my Sunday’s to being unplugged (it actually starts on Saturday around 6pm) and I LOVE it! And what a great use of our unplugged time – looking at photo albums. Even though I started using a digital camera years ago, I always order prints and continue to fill new photo albums. My husband, our kids and I love to flip through the pages and reminisce. These are priceless pictures of you Vidya! Love them!
Isn’t it great, Paige? I swear we’re cosmic twins. I really love the way photos take us back to happy times. Hugs. You know I love it when you come by!
vidur looks like my damian at 3 months. seriously. i blinked when i saw the pic! lol. your friend sounds awesome and you sound blessed to have each other. the first bracelet is wicked.
😀 Vanita, I love the look on babies faces when they’re photographed. Either they look confused or are not conscious at all. It is so sweet that you thought Vidur looked like Damian. I am tempted to look at his photos as I am in love with the ones you’ve put up already.
Now, if you were nearby and commented on that bracelet, it would be on your wrist. 😀
Hi again Vidya – you look like a woman who has good friends, and who treats herself to nice things… I like you!
I enjoyed your post. For me, it’s about how we use our time. In this age of information and internet it’s just too easy to check emails again, or to browse… but our breaks are sacred, and they’d be far more energising if we did something completely different.
For example yesterday while I was on a break, I opened a drawer, emptied it of its contents, sorted them all out (most went to the bin), and put the rest nicely ordered back in. I felt great afterwards!
Thank you for your inspiration,
Marien
Hi Marien! Tiny bits of clutter clearing/cleaning is my favorite way to take breaks. Two-pronged benefits 🙂 I actually enjoy doing it, like you.
I am totally with you when you say that we should do something completely different when we take a break. I practice it. And I think that is why I stay sane 🙂
I am glad you came by. I am happy we connected. Love, Vidya
I ADORE the earrings, they could not possibly be any cuter.
I loved your pics! The pic of you and your son is adorable! Isn’t it wonderful to share such a beautiful friendship. It reminds me of my bff and I. I looooooove your bracelets! Especially the bangles. I looooooove bangles!
