This Sunday, I did go out a bit, but like an idiot forgot to charge my mobile phone – and had to hang on to the wee bit so I could make a phone call, if necessary.
Anyway – I was going through a lot of old stuff, and came across some sketches by my son. Incidentally, even as I slog along with my NaNoWriMo writing, he has taken up his own personal project of illustrating a few Indian mythology stories, beginning with the Ramayana and following it up with Dashavatar. Very interesting, both – and well – looks like I must write soon about “What I learned from my son about sticking to purpose” or some such. Because, you see, he finished the first part of his plan well ahead of time. Happily, he motivates me in turn. So – while I cannot show you what he is working on right now, at his request, I CAN show you stuff he sketched years ago. Here we go:
This Sunday, we’re looking at some “cast-offs” from his portfolio!

And then, Vidur was in the third Grade with the project he’s holding below: Supposed to be a Zoo with pictures collaged together. This would be year 2005
From around the third grade, this is a sketch depicting Lord Krishna conquering the demoness Putana. Long story!
Here is a picture of Recycled water bottles at our local mall.
And here’s a picture of said Mall from outside.
Outside the Mall, there are lots of hawkers selling all sorts of things. This particular toy boy keeps cycling round and round and is quite mesmerizing to watch. The photo is not clear because it moved a tad too fast for me to capture it on my fast-dying phone camera. I’ll get another pic of this the next time I go there.

Hi Sheila! Thanks for the lovely comment. The weird thing is, he writes beautifully when he describes his drawings. You should see his school notebooks. 🙂 His teachers complain about his handwriting all the time. hehehe.
