My Mom sometimes teased me about making a printed template like our local grocer. He had a list of items available in his shop, which he would distribute to his favorite customers and ask them to check the items and quantities they needed, so he could home deliver the stuff.
When I go through some of my old notes – I use one of those really thick spirally bound notebooks, being a paper and pencil person – I feel so nostalgic to see old dates and lists, notes or comments I have written.
Vidur was asking me very curiously about movie theaters from back when I was a kid. Well, right up to the early nineties movies were our biggest entertainment, not so much for the movies themselves, but for the whole experience. We went with friends and had a good time. Sigh.
The heavy trip into nostalgia got triggered because we’re cooling off after a hectic day – me after 9 straight hours of focused work and Vidur, well, kids have their tensions too – long day at school and loads of school work. We’re watching Baiju Bawra. a 1952 film with fabulous songs. Here’s one of my favorites from the movie:
Cheers!

—Vidya,
This scene was breathtaking….I was so utterly and completly moved, that my heart beat quicker as I watched.
What was he saying? What was he saying? Who was the man stood up from his bed?
WOW.xx
Ohhhhh, that song…the Guru walking out to hear him sing it. I loved it SO Much. I was quite emotional about the whole thing if you want the truth! Beautiful clip.
I love the Pink Lips on the bottom….of course.
Do you have a badge yet?
Kim, “Baiju Bawra” is one of the most iconic Hindi films known for its fantastic songs. The guy singing the song sings it when he hears that his “Guru” (teacher) is ill and his Guru, overwhelmed, gets up from his bed. See the link in the post for the full story.
By the way, did you see the gorgeous “My Inner Chick” badge in the footer here?
Hugs, Vidya
Kim, not yet. But now you’ve made me seriously think about making one. 🙂
