You’ve heard of fasting for health. Related to food, I mean. There is research to show it is healthy to do that once a week. Have you heard of the power of silence?
Here is a way to make your relationships healthier by going on a “Communication Fast” – every once in a while.
Select one day when you and your partner have the day off. The night before the day off is the last time you talk to each other. The next day you do not talk to each other. The morning after the “communication fast” – you can resume talking.
This can be enhanced further by extending your “fast” to other kinds of communication, as well. Switch off your TV, stay away from email, don’t even read a book.
How does this help make your relationships more meaningful?
When you stay away from something that you take for granted, you will appreciate it more.
And appreciation is a great mood-upper!

That’s not such a good idea if you have a taciturn partner who comes home after 9 and leaves by 8.:-) Of course he’d appreciate the peace.
🙂 I get what you mean. My partner is not the chatty type, either. This exercise works with almost everything – just about anything that’s a habit – and certainly increases the appreciation bit!
