My dear friend Terri Sonoda is launching her first book and has the cover ready. It is stunning. She’s a writer to watch for. Supremely talented with a unique brand of humor that captures your heart. Visit her blog Terri’s Little Corner. You’ll love it. And do watch out for her book. There will be a paperback version as well as a digital version. Can’t wait to show off a copy on my bookshelf!
My dear friend Uma’s birthday was on June 9. She lives close by. I remember the first time we met – back in 1999 – it was like our souls met. We’ve been best friends from that instant – if there’s such a thing. We’ve laughed a lot, watched our kids grow over the years, sympathized over our woes and wonderful moments. Her kids are close to my heart. I revel in their joys and cry with them when they’re upset. I love to go shopping with them. Uma brings Vidur a cake the day before he gets his exam results, and has promised to do so for as long as he studies in India. Vidur worships her. We pay each others’ property taxes. We’re each others’ go-to’s in any kind of crazy situation. Oh yes, she does look like a cute goddess always beautifully dressed in the traditional way. I am thrilled that one of her daughters will soon be leaving India to continue her education. Both girls are brilliant. Love that family. We have marathon phone calls. What can I say? My heart overfloweth as my senses brim over with laughter each time I think of her.
My dear Vishnu Vardhan, just added another feather to his tennis cap by claiming the men’s singles title in the Mysore ITF Open championship.
I met Vishnu when he was an 8 months old baby, that is 1987 and…he’s 24 now. We’re close friends with his family – and his Mom is the one person in my life who never forgets an occasion – she’s the first to wish me on my birthday. Vishnu is currently Top Seed Tennis Player. Davis Cupper. Nationally ranked at No.2. Can you believe I still have audio tapes of his babytalk and loads of photos from his childhood? I used to think, back then, if I ever had a kid, he should be like him. Oh, I could go on and on about him. But suffice it to say that each time I see news about him, my heart swells with pride. We had the pleasure of spending a day with Vishnu and his family in Dec 2011, when we visited Hyderabad. Always amazing for me to think that the baby I carried around with me everywhere I went outside of office hours – now looks like this:
My favorite guys Vishnu and Vidur |
What a happy sense of well-being. Are you surprised I am on Cloud 9?
Here are some of the clouds that kept me company in the evenings last week. I love the patterns and enjoy gazing at them. I am grateful I could spend time there with my family, joking, laughing and coming back home, happy.
I swear I heard God’s voice at that moment!
Well, God’s in his heaven. And all is right with the world. See the flame of the forest? There’s a huge sea of them from where I looked.
By the way, don’t miss Unknown Mami’s post on Micheal Jordan Quotes – I simply loved them.
Unknown Mami is also the gorgeous blogger who hosts Sundays In My City. Let’s go over to her place now, and see what the others in this link up are up to!

Thanks, Pattu. 😀 As I remember it, Hyd has fabulous clouds. Check out Durgam Cheruvu sometime near Jubilee Hills.
Thanks for the kind wishes to Vishnu. He’s a fine young man.
Wonderful Vidya!
Your happiness can be seen from the way you express it, which surely indicates that you are on Cloud 9!
Happy to know more about Terri’s book launch, and more about your friends Vishnu & Uma, who are indeed lucky to have a friend like you. 🙂
Thanks for sharing these awesome patterns of the clouds, which often make me wonder at times too as to what they are showing. 🙂
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday 🙂
😀 Thank you, Harleena! I just love it when my friends are happy! Skywatching rocks! Thanks for coming by and your wonderful words!
Beautiful! Such a refreshing, buoyant feeling as I read your words and view your photos and feel the radiance you are sharing. I love sky watching…clouds fascinate me, and gratitude shared is so enlivening 🙂
Dearest Joy, you know what? I was thinking of you when I photographed the clouds. I was thinking, we share the same skies. And that made me feel so wonderful. Hugs to you!
Congratulations to your friends for their wonderful accomplishments. Good luck to them both in their future adventures.
Thank you, Tara! 🙂 I am high with happiness!
I love Terri and that she made her series into a book. So friggen cool!
I can’t believe that you know him. That must be super exciting for you to witness that little boy take his dreams and fly with them.
I know a celebrity…ok he’s not really a celebrity. My bestfriend became a news caster in Toronto. He met Richard Simmons yesterday. Oh and Rosie O’Donnel once.
Yes, isn’t it, Kimberly? I am so excited too! Sometimes, I can’t believe am looking at the same sweet kid Vishnu. You know what’s funny? He remembers childhood incidents and I find that fascinating. But I’d credit his Mom a lot, because she always kept us alive in his memory, even though we moved to a different city when he was 10. Yet we continued to meet. Soul connections!
I know how you feel..about your friends. I still get excited when I catch a glimpse of someone I know on TV. 😀 Hugs, Kim. Love you!
I hope you’re fully recovered Vidya. Good news is wonderful, contagious even…in a good way. You remind me to return to my habit of asking people who call me (well people I know) what good news they have for me today. I like the state of expecting good things. Thanks Vidya, for the good news you brought me today.

Yes, Elle. Feeling great! I love that about good news, how it makes the whole day go so well! I love your idea of calling and asking what good news your friends have. I do that once in a while. Hugs!
how could I not comment on this post? 🙂 much continued success and best wishes to Vishnu V!
the magical picture of the sky parting seems looks like God is present right there so I wouldn’t be surprised if you heard Him.
I know it’s Sunday’s when I see your post. Glad to hear you’re feeling better.
🙂 Vishnu… one of my favorite names for very good reason. I know at least three that are close to me. The one I love best is in the photo you’re seeing.
Those clouds are amazing, Vishnu! I am lucky to enjoy them every day. 🙂 Thank you for being here!
Your photos are magnificent and your words, inspiring. Thanks, Vidya.

Thank you, Janet! I am so happy you’re here. I am thrilled for Terri too!
The cover of Terri’s book is wonderful. I absolutely love it. And Vishnu grew up to be a very handsome man, didn’t he?
Yes, I fell in love with it – the colors are so gorgeous. And yes, Vishnu is a handsome guy. Some day soon I will scan all those albums of him as a child – and share a few, with his permission, since he’s a public figure now. When you have a moment, check out this link: http://devividya.blogspot.in/2010/11/my-cup-runneth-over.html – that was a really proud moment in his life that we were excited about.
Hugs to you!
