The Power Of Positive Thinking

by Vidya Sury February 2, 2013 22 comments

It is time for a big dose of positive thinking!

I am feeling a little low. My right arm, which is injured, unexpectedly got worse yesterday and the medication – antibiotics and painkillers are playing havoc with my system. This morning I woke up to a very swollen arm. First, I laughed at the sight. Then, remembering it is my arm,Β  I sobered up. The ice-cold water from the tap helped. I froze, arm mid-way between the running water and my mouth. Ask me why.Β  My hand did not reach my mouth because of the swelling.

I progressively became more and more alarmed because I didn’t want it to get worse..and went to my regular doctor. He took one look at it and asked what I had applied. Surprise surprise. I am allergic to betadine this time around. Who knew? Anyway,Β  I can now stop the painkiller and antibiotic and take only an antihistamine (whew! What a mouthful….and a tummy full!). I’ve also been prescribed a topical cream – to apply on the crazy arm. Reassured, I returned home.

A positive attitude always works for me. I decided I would share a quote on positive thinking with you.

Positive Thinking

On this note, I would like to share a fabulous post by Farnoosh Brock of Prolific Living that I simply adore. Please do read: The Power of Positive Thinking – 22 thoughts to change your life.Β  It is full of affirmations that will help brighten up your day.

And, I would like to share one more gem with you – from a beautiful post titled β€œOn being who I am” written by my friend Terri Sonoda -her powerful words touched my soul.

Life is one big wonderful rollercoaster ride. I choose to ride hard. I choose to ride without guilt, prejudice, judgment and hatred. I choose to be true to myself. Only then can I be of any use to others. – Terri Sonoda

Positive Thinking

If that is not positive thinking, I want to know what is.

The power of positive thinking for me

Positive thinking is more than just a mindset for me; it’s a way of life. Through the lens of positivity, I’ve learned to find silver linings even in the darkest of clouds. This approach has helped me build resilience and an unwavering belief in my ability to overcome any challenge.

Instead of dwelling on what might go wrong, I focus on what could go right. That’s something my mother has always drilled in me. This outlook has not only reduced stress but has also opened doors to countless opportunities I might have otherwise overlooked.

I have learned that positive thinking isn’t about denying reality; it’s about approaching it with a proactive and hopeful spirit, allowing me to shape my own narrative and inspire those around me to do the same.

Also, positive thinking has brought a sense of clarity and light to my life that I cherish daily. It’s a constant reminder that my thoughts have the power to shape my experiences.

By choosing to focus on the positive aspects of any situation, I’ve cultivated a sense of gratitude that has enriched my life immensely. This mindset has deepened my relationships, as I’m more attuned to the beauty and potential within others.

It’s remarkable how a simple shift in perspective can turn setbacks into stepping stones and transform ordinary moments into extraordinary memories.

Through positive thinking, I’ve found the key to unlocking my own happiness and making a meaningful impact on the world around me.

Positive thinking will let you do everything better than negative thinking will. – Zig Ziglar

Happy February. Don’t forget to say your β€œI love you”s

Sorry to hear you still aren’t feeling too up to it Vidya.

Yes, the real pain comes through after one or two days, and no matter the amount of medicines you might take, it does take a few days to full go away. Perhaps some kind of balm’s or pain killers could help out.

Loved the quote you shared, and thanks so much for sharing these wonderful links with all of us, which I shall soon check out.

Please do take special care of yourself, and give yourself complete rest, which means no blogging too!

Enjoy your weekend with your family and let them pamper and look after you for a while, such times are rare – so enjoy them. πŸ™‚

Thank you, Harleena. Just a pain that the allergy spread all over the arm, making it swell up. This too shall pass ;-).

Strangely I usually blog twice or thrice a week – but now, since I can’t physically move around, the urge to write is strong. Can’t wait to be fully mobile soon!

Thanks again! Happy February to you!

Vidya,
I’m so sorry it’s taking so long to recover! I’m glad you can keep a positive attitude throughout this experience.

I just love Farnoosh, Terri and Joy! Such wonderful bloggers who posts always inspire. I will head over and read their posts. I somehow missed the part about Joy’s course. So I will also head over to Paradise Found. During my teacher conferences I seemed to miss a lot!

Great post and as always… inspiring!!

Hi Vidya,

Oops… Sending you wishes for a speed recovery dear πŸ™‚ May be I’m late here and you were almost recovered πŸ˜€ Anyway take care Vidya.

Allergic to betadine? Never heard of such though. Glad you met your doctor and else that could be worse.

I think positive attitude keeps us alive Vidya πŸ™‚ It matters when we face real problems. It’s we, not someone else, who shouldn’t let us down, right? πŸ™‚

You make me laugh ~ “This morning I woke up to a very-swollen arm. First, I laughed at the sight.” πŸ˜€

Life is always good and keep smiling dear πŸ™‚

Let me try imitating Harry Potter ~ Esta speedo recovery… Now close your eyes and look at your arm πŸ˜‰

Cheers…

Our thoughts are an energy which manifests and creates what we do want and what we don’t want. What you are focused on is what you make happen.

If we want to change our reality, the first step is to make that decision πŸ˜‰

Andy, welcome! I firmly believe in that philosophy and have seen it happen throughout my life. πŸ™‚ It has taught me in a very gentle but sure way to expect and focus on the outcomes I would like. Moreover, better to channel our energies towards what we want. I am trying to steer my son in the same direction.

Glad you are here today!
