Positive Affirmations for Life

While doing the Blogging from A to Z Challenge in April this year, I began with A for Affirmations.

I described affirmations as powerful positive self-talk.

I’ve always used them to energize and motivate me, inspiring me to put in my best efforts in everything I do. Naturally I have a growing repository of affirmations that I use for different occasions.

I have affirmations for self motivation to lift my spirits when I find them flagging. I have affirmations for gratitude and affirmations that heal.

Affirmations to give me that swift kick in my pants when I feel lazy and need a push.

You’ve heard me say it so often – that Happiness is a DIY project. This is a lesson I’ve learned throughout my life. I learned through experience that things just don’t come and fall in your lap. Okay, so there will be the occasional fluke. I’ve found I’ve always had to be pro-active and take action when I wanted something to change.

Long ago – decades in fact – one of my bosses would make us all say the words: Yes I Can together. We were all new to sales at the time and were nervous about getting out into the field. Cold calling intimidated us. Repeating “Yes I Can” together somehow made us all feel stronger and more confident. We developed the habit of visualizing positive outcomes and this determined the quality of effort we put in.

One of the most important things I learned was this: repetition of practice is critical to seeing results. You know what they say about practice making you perfect. I know some people scorn positive thinking but I personally feel that when one wants something and plans to work towards achieving it, expecting positive results can be so motivating.

Affirmations are powerful

Positive Affirmations are positive present-tense first-person statements that you repeat until they become your new spoken thoughts.

We are what we think. Focusing on the negative is stressful. Just imagine: if we always expected the worst, how would we ever get things done?

My Mom had this habit of writing affirmations on cards and placing them where they are visible, a habit I religiously follow. Not only is it encouraging, but also makes me feel like everything is possible. I like to focus on my strengths rather than fret over what I can’t do.This has helped me steer my life in the path I want.

Most of all, affirmations act like the guardian angel who supports me, assures me that I am capable, increasing my chances of succeeding at the goals I set myself.

I am not saying it is wrong to worry – a little stress is always healthy; but it is sensible to see the bright side. Affirmations are life-changing. But, to use them you’ve got to change your thoughts first.

So, I ask you…

Can you invest 12 minutes a day in your happiness?

If you said yes, my friend Farnoosh Brock of Prolific Living shows you how easy it is to turn your life from a constant state of struggle and loneliness into a state of self-approval and self-acceptance with The Positive Affirmations for Life audio program.

In just 12 minutes a day.

There is scientific proof that positive affirmations used in the right way can help you rid yourself of negativity and create a reality of happiness and success in your life.

positive affirmations

The Positive Affirmations for Life audio program is an audio affirmation system that focuses on 7 life situations which impact your happiness and success the most.  These are:

  4. Stop procrastinating and start getting things done.
  5. Live a complaint-free life.
  6. Attract abundance and wealth to your life.
  7. Fall asleep naturally and effortlessly every night.

Each audio track is 12 minutes long. Listening to just one track per day,  you can start the shift from negative thoughts to positive thoughts. I am loving the tracks in the program and begin my day with the one to kick start my day on a happy note, and end it with a track that helps me fall asleep. The background  music is wonderful and fills me with peace. I tend to visualize all my happy places when I listen.

Vidya, thank you so so much for writing this post, for sharing how powerful your boss and your Mom were in instilling this habit in you – what a lucky amazing gift to have and to continue now to bestow that gift to your readers.
Thanks so much for all the kind shout-outs. You’re a darling!

I completely agree with this because I also believe that positivism is the strongest weapon against all odds…

I loved this section a lot “Most of all, affirmations act like the guardian angel who supports me, assures me that I am capable, increasing my chances of succeeding at the goals I set myself.”
Thanks for such a motivational post!

I believe in the power and magic of positive affirmations. Reiki, which I practice is also based on positive thinking and visualization. This changes our outlook, brings positivity in life and helps achieve goals too! 🙂

I also love positive affirmations. They can be great motivators for everything from appreciating the moment, to being grateful, to getting up off your butt and doing something. I like your mom’s habit. I am going to borrow it.

“Live a complaint-free life.” That’s the key lesson I am taking today. Thanks for this positive, feel-good post, Vidya. I can’t say I use affirmations as such but yes I do have my ways to lift myself up when I feel low or drained out. And yes smiling and thinking happy thoughts is certainly one of those ways 🙂

Optimism changes our thoughts and life pattern for sure. I have noticed in past when I am positive, I climb up the stairs, feel blissful, blessed and when I at times I turn negative, I start falling apart. I don’t go by affirmations though I thank my God for the blessings. Though this can be a nice way to lighten up one’s day.

While I have a generally positive attitude, I’ve never used positive affirmations in a structured way. I’m tempted to try now after reading your post.

Affirmations keep me heading in the direction I want to go Vidya. How wonderful that your mum used and taught them to you. Farnoosh no doubt has a winner with her new programme. 🙂

A complaint free life-I love this because it is so hard to do. We all complain but some like to make it their life’s donation. I love reading affirmations and keep 4 cards in my wallet that I read all the time. I have to admit I need it today because I am going through the prep for a colonoscopy. This is not fun especially for a hypoglycemic. I am shaky right now and visiting the loo now. I hate drinking that drink created by Lucifer but I am loving reading your blog here as it did put a smile on my face today which I needed so thank you Vidya!

Dearest Birgit, your comment makes me feel choked with emotion. What an honor. Please know, in my mind, I am holding your hand in mine. I have you in my prayers, in my heart and I know that the colonoscopy will go just fine. Hugs! I am so happy we’re connected – and I hope to get to hug you for real next year 🙂 With love. Take care!

I really believe that positive self talk can change the course of a person’s life. I use this in my own personal life and daily with my clients who are in treatment from addiction and mental health conditions. Thank you for sharing this article!

Great Article! Affirmations are simple statements. But statements that are said with enough confidence and multiple times in order to make your brain believe that those are true.To become self-confident, all you have to do is proclaim a couple of times ‘I am confident’? That’s impossible!
