Five habits to make you feel amazing every day

Some days are great and some days, not so much. Who doesn’t want every day to go smoothly and have all those expectations met?

Well, you can bring your own sunshine to your day.

Here are five habits you should cultivate to feel amazing every day!

Five habits to make you feel amazing every day

1.    Set yourself up for a great day

Set intentions for the day and watch your day go much better. Prioritize your tasks. Putting too much to do on your to-do list will only stress you out. Just pick the things you are sure of accomplishing based on priority and focus on those. Manage your time in such a way that you don’t spend it on things that suck your energy or with people who drag you down.

  • Keep a gratitude journal. Write three things you are grateful for, every day
  • Watch a TED Talk on YouTube for a quick pick me up
  • Read affirmations
  • Call someone you love
  • Stand up and stretch when you wake up
  • Don’t forget to make your bed
  • Try to meditate or just sit still with music for 10 minutes
  • Take mini breaks throughout the day
  • Donate something you don’t need
  • Make a meal plan and shop ahead

2.    Be nice

This is important, you know. Make it a point to be kind to someone every day. Can be your partner, your kid or a stranger. Do something nice for them—pay a compliment, appreciate them, smile at them. Making kindness the norm makes our world brighter—for us and for others

3.    Mind your health

Try and eat healthy most of the time. It’s okay to indulge occasionally, but focusing on healthy eating will make you feel good about yourself.  Drink enough water. Dehydration can play havoc with your body leading to a score of health issues, none of which feel good. So drink at least 6-8 glasses of water every day. Don’t wait until you are thirsty. Staying hydrated keeps you healthy and detoxes your system. Practise hygiene by washing your hands regularly. It is all too easy to pick up that cold or flu and other infections—and washing your hands will minimize the chances. Not fun being sick, and prevention is way better than cure.

4.    Look good

I don’t know about you, but dressing well always makes me feel good. Sometimes it is that favorite perfume. Sometimes it is that favorite shade of lip gloss-shoes-outfit. Whatever, when you know you look good, your self-confidence gets a welcome boost. Take care of yourself—your hair, your skin, your body. Work in exercise into your routine—just 30 minutes of walking can make all the difference to your mood. Brisk activity releases all the happy hormones, keeping you in a pleasant state of mind.

5.    Carry your own sunshine

Of course, there will be those typical “bad hair” days. There are days you’ll wake up cranky wondering what the heck was this Vidya talking about feeling amazing every day. It happens to the best of us. But no need to accept that feeling of “ugh”. Instead, just fake it till you make it. Get up anyway, dress to impress, have a healthy breakfast, call your pal and rant and then laugh it off. Smile. You know what they say. Your day will go in the direction the corners of your mouth turn. Listen to your favorite song. Because some days you have to bring your own sunshine!

Or some upbeat music!

One thing that really cheers me up is looking at flowers. Grab a bunch and place them where you can see them!

So there you go! Five ways to feel amazing every day. Best part? You can turn these into habits by repetition. And carpe diem!

How do you make your day amazing?

My favorite tip is the one you give with every post. Smile! So many people need a smile, even if it is from a perfect stranger. I intentionally smile at people as I pass them. It may be the only smile they get all day.

You are absolutely right, Heather. I do that too, and in fact, was pleasantly surprised when my husband visited a shop in our neighborhood and they looked for me–remembering me as the lady who always has a smile and a kind word! I am constantly amazed at how many people wear a grumpy face. And these days, most people have eyes only for their phone screens! Thank you for coming by! 🙂

I liked the carry your sunshine tip the most. We often attach our emotions with what others think of us. This is the primary reason why our confidence and self esteem takes a hit. Great post and great theme. all the best for the entire month.

I smile at ladies ( most walkers are ladies) at the park and some return the smile. Well for those who dont, I keep smiling. I conclude they are not in good mood or lost in their thoughts. It is the small kids who reciprocate the smile with interest.

I can attest to the “make your bed” thing. It always makes me feel better about the day. If only I could get all those other things done too… Very encouraging.
